Conservationist
of the Year '88

Saving the day again.... in 1988, the Marine Mammal
Protection Act was in danger of being gutted, and Don White and
Sam LaBudde of ET brought the details to U.S. Representative Pat
Saiki. Saiki's influential committee membership gave her the power
to stand up for the MMPA, and she succeeded in rolling back the
pressure of those wanting to weaken the Act. Earthtrust awarded
her it's "Conservationist of the Year" award for 1988
for this really incredible work.
